It is important to know the facts and to get your news from trusted sources. Social media is not a trusted source for Hilton Head Island information. The Governor of South Carolina has issued a state of emergency as a precaution to prevent the spread of the virus. In addition, beach access points including parking lots are closed until 4/30/20, but that does not include private beach access points. Non-essential businesses have been asked to close until 4/15/20, but restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacy's, Wal-Mart & Target are still open. 

In addition, WHEREAS, on April 3, 2020, the undersigned issued Executive Order No. 2020-19, directing that effective Friday, April 3, 2020, at 5:00 p.m., any and all individuals, entities, or establishments engaged in the provision of short-term rentals, vacation rentals, or other lodging accommodations or operations in exchange for consideration in the State of South Carolina are prohibited from making or accepting new reservations or bookings from or for individuals residing in or travelling from any country, state, municipality, or other geographic area subject to or identified in a CDC travel advisory or other CDC notice as a location with extensive community transmission of COVID-19, to include the Tri-State Area (consisting of the States of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut).

Even though Hilton Head Island is a remote and rural area we ask that during your stay you respect the social distancing procedure (no more than groups of 3, 6' distance) when in public as a precautionary measure. Can I Cancel My Reservation?

Vacation Homes of Hilton Head we are open for business and are adhering to our agreed upon cancelation policy which is stated in your rental contract and on our website. If you have read, understand, and acknowledge the cancelation policy and still wish to cancel please email Please provide your reservation name, property rented, dates of stay, and your reservation number. All of this information can be found on your rental contract.

What do I do if I purchased Travel Insurance?

In the event you have purchased travel insurance you will need to reach out to the travel protection provider directly. They will be able to assist you with all questions related to trip protection, coverage, and cancelation. When calling be sure you have your contract in hand to provide all pertinent information. Are the Grocery Stores Open?

Yes, the grocery stores are open. The local grocery stores are working hard to keep the shelves stocked regularly. Mr. Martin owner of Piggly Wiggly is asking us to send guests his way, he is ready for you! In addition, all other groceries stores are open. Be sure to check their operating hours.
