A Guide to the Annual RBC Heritage PGA Tournament

Golf enthusiasts will not want to miss the opportunity to combine being a spectator of a PGA tournament and hitting the beach in one trip! The Annual RBC Heritage PGA Tournament will be held this year from April 10th - 16th, 2023 at the Harbour Town Golf Links. The tournament will allow full spectators and fans to follow the excitement! RBC Heritage PGA Tournament Schedule:

Tuesday, April 11th — Opening Ceremonies

Tuesday marks the beginning of the formal tournament. At noon, spectators can watch the Opening Ceremonies with a parade of the defending champion, volunteers, board members of the Heritage Classic Foundation, and state dignitaries! Following the ceremony, the professional golfers may practice as they wish. During the day, little ones (15 and under) can practice their putt on the Harbour Town Golf Links!

Wednesday, April 12th - Friday, April 14th — Pro-Am, First Round, Second Round

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday feature the main playtime of the tournament with morning start times falling between 7:00 AM and 7:20 AM. Afternoon start times fall between 11:50 AM and 1:30 PM. As a spectator, be sure to stay in the know on when your favorite player will be hitting the green so that you don't miss seeing their swing! 

Saturday, April 15th — Plaid Nation Day

The Third Round of golf comes with Plaid Nation Day. Spectators are encouraged to come out decked in their best plaid outfits while they continue to watch the tournament. Starting times for golfers fall between 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Spectators can participate in competitions on the Heritage Lawn that afternoon from 12:00 to 2:00 PM including Hole-in-One, trivia, and a best-dressed competition.

Sunday, April 16th — Final Round & Trophy Presentation

The final day of the tournament begins with a Sunrise service at 7:30 AM. The service will feature a non-denominational prayer and a PGA Tour professional speaker. Following the service, the final round start times will fall between 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Following the end of the round, there will be a trophy presentation to close out the tournament.

If you get hungry or thirsty during the tournament, there will be multiple concession stands throughout the golf course. For those seeking a bit more than just a concession stand, spectators will also have access to the Ultra Club and Tito’s Stillhouse, both offering adult beverages and craft cocktails!

Bleachers will also be placed throughout the course and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To watch coverage of the tournament on a jumbo screen, head to the Heritage Lawn which also doubles as a meeting area for spectators with a variety of activities present as well. Find yourself a souvenir of the at the Merchandise Pavillion that will be located between the 1st and 9th holes as well as in a tent on the Heritage Lawn!

Off-Course Activities

If you aren’t out on the golf course yourself, you can watch the tournament at a local Hilton Head bar or restaurant! The British Open Pub is an eatery centered around the love of the game of golf and delicious pub-style cuisine! Grab a pint and a plate of fish and chips while you cheer on the game in an amazing atmosphere.
