Holidays on Hilton Head

Hilton Head is known as one of the top vacation destinations for the summer months, but the island has plenty to offer during the Holiday season as well! Starting from Thanksgiving and continuing all the way into the New Year, there are endless activities for you and your family to enjoy on Hilton Head. We’ve gathered some of our favorite events and activities for you to choose from, making finding fun festivities easy and stress free.

Nothing says Christmas like bright, twinkling lights! There are more than a few chances to see spectacular light displays on Hilton Head. From 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. every night until the New Year, you can head over to Harbour Town and stroll along the Harbour to enjoy a light display and take in the beauty of the giant Christmas tree. For a mid-island light display, visit “Tis’ the Season” at Shelter Cove Towne Centre. Park your car and stroll through the Holiday light display, enjoy entertainment, Horse & Carriage rides, train rides, a rock wall, skating rink, a visit with Santa Claus and more. This event begins at 6 p.m. every night and runs until December 30th. Proceeds benefit the Island Rec. Center. Additionally, the Hilton Head Fire and Rescue Station #3 boasts a dazzling light display that shines for the duration of the holiday season. Courtesy of the firefighters, this display is a local favorite, so make sure to drive through with your family!

If you were hoping to attend some musical festivities, Hilton Head will not disappoint. On Saturday, December 23rd from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., you can catch local favorite Gregg Russell’s Christmas concert in Harbour Town. Both parents and children will enjoy singing along to Christmas classics, and following the concert, enjoy a special visit from Santa Claus! This event is free and open to the public. Furthermore, if you love musicals, take the family to see Disney’s Newsies at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. This Tony-Award winning production runs from December 6th to 31st, and tickets can be purchased at the Arts Center or online.

Harbour Town also offers the unique opportunity to watch Christmas movies outside under the stars. Classic Christmas movies will be shown under the Liberty Oak. Benches and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows will be provided. On December 9th at 7 p.m., the movie shown will be Home Alone, and on December 16th at 7 p.m. the movie shown will be “A Christmas Story.” Admission for these showings are complimentary with the donation of a canned food item for the Deep Well Project.

We hope our curated picks for holiday festivities will help to make your Christmas full of fun! We guarantee that there is something everyone will love to do on Hilton head this Christmas!
