Thing To Do Leamington Lighthouse

Leamington Lighthouse overlooks the Arthur Hills Golf Course at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Leamington Lighthouse is the only historic lighthouse on Hilton Head Island is one of a few left in the state of South Carolina. Leamington Lighthouse is also known as the Hilton Head Rear Range Light.

The lighthouse was used in the 1880s to help guide ships into the Port Royal Sound, but a storm damaged the front and rear range lights. The 95-foot tower was located on land used as a Marine camp during World War II prior to being sold to private developers.

Many visitors have also shared stories of haunting experiences at the lighthouse. The story goes that “The Blue Lady,” the daughter of the last lighthouse operator, can be seen wandering in her blue dress.
