We vacationed a total of 5 couples (friends from high school)! There was an abundance of room for everyone to enjoy their privacy as well as come together for meals, games and pool time! Pool, hot tub and beach were a big hit with all!!

This was the perfect home for multiple families to enjoy. So spacious, thoughtfully planned with extra refrigerator, dishwasher, seating, etc. It was a bit of a hike to the beach; however, we were appreciative of the boardwalk. It was a bit pricey, but would we do it again, absolutely!

House and location were fantastic. Great rain water showers. Only issues were a dirty grill which we cleaned, a couple of wasp nests and the pool light might have been burned out since it never came on. Elevator was very helpful moving the luggage up and down. Great place for a family vacation.

The large deck and pool, plus the open kitchen and great room made it perfect to coral and supervise all of the 11 grandkids.. Having a bathroom for each bedroom was very convenient and the private board walk to the ocean was a bonus!

Very nice property. Enjoyed the fact that each bedroom has its own bathroom. Walkway to beach is nice and new easy walk. We did have something stolen out of a car that was left unlocked but not the fault of the property. We had a good time in the pool and would be happy to rent this home again

This is our third year renting this property and wouldn't stay any where else on island. The amenities are perfect for a large group with plenty a spaces to curl up and read a book. We love being able to walk to the beach at any time of the day or night. Great house, great location, great property rental group!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was beautiful! Perfect for our group of 17. Very clean. We loved that every bedroom had its own full bathroom. Every employee we spoke with was very friendly, helpful, and professional. This includes cleaning crew, inspector, maintenance man, and texting hotline. Had a chirping smoke alarm, and staff arrived to fix it very shortly after we contacted them. A couple minor complaints: main fridge was not keeping up and stuff wasn’t getting very cold. Wasps attacked some people on the walk to the beach, 3 people got stung. I’m sure maintenance will address these issues now that they are aware, as it was apparent the property was well cared for. Highly recommend, would stay again!

This house rocks! I have been renting beach houses during September for over 20 years. I have never stayed in a home with such a well-stocked and functional kitchen. An extra refrigerator in the pantry/laundry was a plus. The public areas are spacious and comfortable. As with many larger beach houses, there is a room that works best for children. That is true here also with one bedroom with two bunks (4 beds). But this room is not great for adults because it also has no door or bathroom. The elevator worked well for transporting our luggage, groceries, and those in our group who have difficulty with stairs. There is plentiful parking. The pool is one of the larger we have encountered in an oceanfront house, as well. But speaking of oceanfront, there is a bit of compromise on that. Yes, this is an oceanfront home, and the walkway to the ocean and over the dunes is well-maintained. But it is a hike through the trees and encounters many steps. The trees also prevent a traditional view of the beach and ocean from the home and decks. I think the somewhat lowered pricing (compared to other oceanfront properties) reflects that compromise. The house was clean for our arrival. It does not seem that checking the availability of WIFI is part of the readiness inspection because it was not working when we arrived on Saturday and it was not restored until just before noon on Thursday. That’s well over half the period of our rental. It interrupted the ability of some of our group to work remotely and they had to inconveniently relocate to coffee shops or the library to get internet service. Given that the TVs in the house also rely on internet connectivity (they are streaming TVs), there was no access to TV either. It also interrupted our (traditional) family plans to do network-based trivia games and crossword puzzles together. Thankfully, I didn’t have a 12-year-old counting on online gaming during vacation. I try to unplug from the constant demands of a phone during vacation and I felt like I had to have my phone practically glued to my side because of trying to respond in case the internet company or Vacation Homes needed to contact me about efforts to restore service. I would have liked to simply report the problem and then felt confident it would be remedied. But with missed service appointments and the delay in restoration, that was not possible. A $15 bottle of wine does not begin to smooth over this rough patch. Overall, there is much I like about dealing with Vacation Homes of Hilton Head. The staff are ALWAYS friendly and professional on the phone. There are a couple of automated logistics issues I hope they can find ways to deal with. One is the communication via email that demands you evaluate, review, and inform them of your intended checkout time so early. The email was received at 10 AM on Thursday. You couldn’t just reply to let them know of your check-out time. The app made you respond to a survey in order to submit the time. I’m on vacation. I don’t want to use vacation time to review my experience, especially since my internet STILL wasn’t working. I also give a lot of thought to what I want to say. So, please, don’t rush me. The other is the trash issue. After replying that I would check out at the normal time, 10 AM on Saturday, the checklist to help prepare for checkout informed me that I would be subject to a $500 fee unless ALL of my trash was in the trash can by 7 AM on Saturday. While we had done prep Friday evening to clean out groceries and refrigerator items, there is still trash created with showering, dressing, bathroom, and breakfast. Our check out is 10 AM, not 7 AM and if we create some trash in that time and then place it in the trash bins, that is not our problem. A threat of a $500 fee was distasteful. I still give 18 Sand Dollar high marks and Vacation Homes of Hilton Head high marks and recommend them.

18 of us gathered here, from 6 months to 70 years old….great house, plenty of space, clean, well equipped. Close to a lot but also nicely secluded a bit. Great stay would recommend to any size family.

House was huge and awesome. Very clean and new. Only issues we had were 1) hot tub controller was not working and 2) the view was obstructed to the ocean from the main floor. (we knew that going in, we were not misled in any way) Would definitely stay there again!

Overall GREAT! Beautiful home and surroundings. Everything worked well. Outfitted well, though I would expect having adequate supplies like trash bags, dishwasher detergent, paper towels, foil and plastic wrap. There was only a bit of detergent, 1 part of a roll of PT.

The hot tub was great, but ice cold initially, and took >30 hours to come to temperature - we were told it would be ready on our arrival.

The rental staff were great, and very responsive.

Will be back!

We are sorry to hear that the hot tub was not heating in a timely manner, we experienced below freezing temperatures that week and notified our guests that this might impact hot tub and pool heat functionality. We supply a start pack at our properties, with bags in the kitchen trash bins, 1 roll of paper towels, sponges for the dishes, and a couple pods of dishwashing detergent and clothes detergent. Overall a wonderful property and stay. Location was great, and the house is fantastic for a group. Hot tub was great, but was ice cold on arrival and took 30+ hours to come to temp, so we could not use it first day and 1/2. Kitchen was very well equipped with everything except foil / plastic wrap / adequate dishwasher detergent, papertowels. There are NO spices / salt / pepper / oil / etc Overall a GREAT vacation. Rental agency was very quick to respond, and easy to work with.

This property provided a perfect family getaway for Thanksgiving. The location was very well maintained, clean, and fantastic with plenty of room and amenities to host multiple families with young kids. The layout of the property enabled individual families their own private space whenever they needed to get away for some rest. The kitchen was well equipped for preparing family meals. The deck and pool provided an extra area for gathering or just listening in on the waves from the beach. The short private walk to the beach was a major plus! Another plus was the easy access to the many restaurants, golf courses, and kid friendly activities in Hilton Head. The hospitality was great, and management was always available and proactive on checking in on us. Overall, we had a fabulous time connecting with family and friends, and this venue offered the perfect setting. I highly recommend this property and would be more than happy to be back!!

We cooked all meals at the house and the kitchen is well equipped with pans, cutlery, 2 dishwashers, small appliances, etc. And it has a warming oven and catering servers for parties. Plenty of counter space for lots of cooks. It also came with a good amount of cleaning supplies and toiletries. The house was very clean when we arrived and was ready a bit early for us. The management company advised us beforehand that the previous guest smoked in one of the bedrooms and extra cleaning procedures were taken and to advise them if we had any issues. The bedroom was fine when we arrived. The pool and jacuzzi are a perfect size and really nice they are on same level as living room and kitchen. Private path to beach is great and the beach is not crowded by the house. We all enjoyed our stay and would def stay again.

Felt like I was in my own home. Property management company was the icing on the cake. Proactive, extremely responsive, and very helpful in making recommendations for in-home chef experience.

The kitchen and grill were excellent as we cooked several times. The hot tub and pool were great and the proximity to beach was very convenient.The house was very clean when we arrived and was well stocked with kitchen appliances, utensils, etc. There were more than enough towels for all guests for showers and the pool.There were a few downsides, but they would not prevent us from staying again. There is no coffee bean grinder, but three coffee machines (?). There were too few cleaning supplies provided - we had to buy trash bags, laundry detergent, etc. And there was no cooking supplies - no salt and pepper, oil, etc. so we had to buy all those as well and of course had plenty leftover so felt wasteful throwing it all away again. Again, these are not dealbreakers, just be prepared.We would love to stay at this property again. It's a beautiful home and great for large groups.

Wonderful property! We had a 50th wedding anniversary celebration with all the family here and the heated pool and hot tub was a hit for adults and kids. The large kitchen and two eating areas made it easy to feed everyone and have room for games also. Would highly recommend this beautiful home for any large gathering. There is a wooden boardwalk for easy access to the beach. You will not be disappointed.

We were here for a bachelorette. Absolutely loved the house — big enough for a group of 14 to fit comfortably. The jacuzzi on the deck was amazing; the kitchen/living area is perfect for entertaining and playing games. Everything about the check-in / check-out was easy. The garbage room is right off the basement, you don't even have to go outside! The only slightly negative thing I'd have to say is we paid for pool heating but because it was a cold weekend, the pool never got to a comfortable temperature. So it didn't feel like a worthwhile extra expense. But if we'd gone during the summer it would have been a perfect weekend. Very quick taxi ride to everywhere in HHI we wanted to go.

Beautiful house perfectly suited for larger groups. With 7 beds and 7 baths, everyone has their own space. It was fantastic to have a private path to the beach, and the beach in that area really seemed to be very clean and not crowded in the least.

The house is beautiful! Location is great! Neighbors get mad of kids are in the pool at any time unfortunately. You have to go to bed at 10pm every night otherwise you will get lots of complaints. If you like to go to bed early, this is the spot for you! 10pm curfew. It’s a really beautiful place and perfect location, just wish we could have enjoyed the pool & hot tub without neighbors about every single thing

Great location for our 50th anniversary party. Good pool and close to beach. House had some problems. Elevator not in operation caused isssues for our disabled Navy vet. Ice maker NEVER worked. Had to go out and buy 3 bags of ice EVERY DAY. Master bath toilet light out for first 3 days. 2 dexk recliners were broken. For that rent cost these issues should not exist. We should get a partial refund!

The house was a perfect home for us to celebrate our 50th anniversary with our four children, their spouses and our ten grandchildren. The kitchen was super well-equipped for us to prepare dinners each night and there was ample seating for us to dine together. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large and comfortable so that everyone had a place to retire to for naps or nighttime. The children had a great time in the pool and hot tub in addition to our beach times. We all raved about this wonderful house and highly recommended it as we felt it was our best ever! We also appreciated the customer service during which our few glitches were handled quickly, efficiently and in a friendly manner.

We recently stayed at this property and had a great vacation. I will try to give the pros and cons of this property.
We found the home clean and well stocked with toiletries. You receive the amount typically found in hotels, so if staying for longer than a few days you will need dishwasher soap, laundry soap, garbage bags, shampoo etc.
We did heat the pool and it was enjoyed by our kids. (7 children ) Any questions I had were promptly answered by the management team and I greatly appreciated their prompt replies.
The bunk room does not have a door so a fan was needed at night to help with sound from downstairs. There were fans provided in most if not all bedrooms though.
We found the house exactly as described online. It has a kuerig, toaster, microwave and other appliances. It does not have any storage containers for leftovers and with our 15 people we had lots of those. You will need plastic wrap or disposable containers.
One negative was lack of a pantry. With such a large house I thought there would be some kind of place to store all the food we bought. There was one empty cabinet, but nothing really for the bulk snacks a large group uses. We did just fill up the counters and laundry room which worked but looked a little messy. Not a big deal, but surprised me.
Plenty of fridge space.
We thought the garbage instructions were a little unclear, but got it figured out with management.
The property was in good condition, except for some minor things. The handrail on the walk to the beach was broken, a loose board on the pool deck, (fixed during our stay) some broken plastic chairs on the deck.
The house has maybe 1 beach chair so bring your own.
The location was great, close to the grocery, mini golf on the corner.
Our group of 8 adults and 7 children fit beautifully and we had a great time. I would stay here again.

The layout with 3 master suites is incredible. Super chef kitchen, enjoyed flipping pancakes on the griddle. A few needs, some non stick sauté pans, dimmers on family area lights, larger TV in family room and better WiFi, very weak to no service upstairs. Will definitely consider again. And the staff at Vacation Homesof Hilton Head was great

18 Sand Dollar Rd. was very clean. We were very happy that the owners added a Keurig Coffee machine to the kitchen materials. The ice machine in the refrigerator stopped working. This turned out to be minor problem because the house manager came right over to fix it.��. We loved the privacy it provided as well as the ocean views.
This our second time renting this beach house and we’re not disappointed.

The house was a perfect lay out for our family (3 separate families) giving everyone space. The location on the beach was perfect. The house was pretty and the pool was great. Only main complaint was the internet was weak. The property managers were very responsible and came out a few times to fix it but it never worked great.

We rented this house for a guys golf group. Lots of room to spread out. Bedrooms were plenty roomy. Kitchen very well-equipped. Hot tub was a big plus. Direct beach access was nice.

This house was a perfect location and size for our family weekend! Whenever there was a question, the company was easy to get a hold of and very responsive.
For the size of the house, there isn’t enough paper towel, garbage bags or laundry detergent. It’s inconvenient to go out and buy that yourself to get you thru a 4 day holiday. Eight women stayed at 18 Sand Dollar Road for 6 days and had an exception time. The location is great, we could bike ride to Palmetto and Coligney with ease . The proximity/ walk/ access to the beach was perfect. The house itself had a well equipped kitchen and each bedroom had a dedicated bath. The furniture inside and out was a little tired and there were some maintenance issues to address for which the property manager will be advised. Overall with some attention to repairs I would totally recommend this location. HIlton Head Vacation Rentals were super!

This is a beautiful home with plenty of amenities from a pool, hot tub, gas grill, ping pong, pool table, etc. There are a lot of bathrooms and the bedrooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. I highly recommend this home to large families or large groups. We were a group of golfers and found it to be perfect and intend to rent again next year!

We had a wonderful time on our first trip to Hilton Head Island. The house at 18 Sand Dollar Road was spacious and well equipped. We loved being able to wake up and walk out to the ocean by a private walkway. Even though the weather was cool mid-week, the sun was shining and we were able to be outdoors. Maintenance responded very quickly to a minor fix during our stay. I would recommend this property to any large group.

This was a beautiful home with plenty of room for our whole family. I was worried about the kids room because it looked too far away but it was right off the kitchen. Short walk to the beach on the private boardwalk. The beach was very nice. Nice sand and no rocks.

The property was beautiful and very well equipped. The location and access to the beach was incredible. Our extended family had a great time. The property management responded to several issues that we called about.

Our only complaints were the overwhelming musty or mildew smell in the entire house when we arrived and the smell of mothballs in the main floor master bedroom. The guests staying in that room could not even sleep there because of the combination of the odors. We complained about it several times My brother investigated the mildew smell and discovered a dehumidifier in the garage that was not functioning and filled with mold. the property management had it repaired but it wasn't until Thursday. Then the odor was gone but not the mothball smell.

The mothball smell was coming from the closet that obviously belonged to the owners which could not be resolved because it was locked.

I read a previous review that also complained about the smell and it should have been resolved or investigated before our arrival. I was hesitant to write a review because we really did love the property but I repeatedly received requests to provide one.

We are also pleased to hear that our staff responded promptly to all of your needs during your vacation. We do apologize for any inconvenience that you had while here. In October 2018 we had all air ducts cleaned by Microclean Technology and all air duct insulation replaced. We also had all 3 HVAC units professional serviced & drain line cleared, and we also had a deep clean of the house. These 3 services have remedied any and all issues. Again, we are happy to hear that overall you all loved the home and it would be a pleasure to have you all again next year!

This was the second time we had rented this home. The fact that it can sleep over 20 is a huge plus. It is laid out great for a large group with a big kitchen and family room combo. There is seating for 20 for meals and entertaining. Each family could have their own bedroom and bath. We loved having the pool right off of the family room. We had ages 86 down to 2 months so some people could be inside and still see the little ones enjoying the pool area. The boardwalk to the beach isn't too long and everyone enjoyed that as well. We felt the home could use some new appliances but other than that it was still in good condition and very clean. We appreciate the owners renting such a fabulous house out.

What a beautiful house and perfect location especially for our family union! It was better then expected!! Everything went smoothly and they called when we arrived to see if we needed anything. It had all of the amenities and more, was very clean and had tons of space including parking space. Each of the bedrooms were well insulated so when loud conversations or music was taking place you couldn’t hear it in the rooms. The one thing I was surprised about was there is no door to the bedroom with the bunk beds. This may have been something I missed in the description. Great trip! We would absolutely rent this house again.

The location of the house and the easy walk to the beach could not have been better. The outlay of the rooms was excellent. Sufficient parking too. The heating of the hot tub and the swimming pool did not happen even though I paid for it. The capacity of the heat pump was insufficient for the weather which was in the low 40s. Otherwise it was the best.

Our group of friends had an amazing time at this property. Everyone commented on how beautiful and spacious the house was. The kitchen and grill were excellent as we cooked several times. The hot tub and pool were great and the proximity to beach was very convenient.

The house was very clean when we arrived and was well stocked with kitchen appliances, utensils, etc. There were more than enough towels for all guests for showers and the pool.

There were a few downsides, but they would not prevent us from staying again. There is no coffee bean grinder, but three coffee machines (?). There were too few cleaning supplies provided - we had to buy trash bags, laundry detergent, etc. And there was no cooking supplies - no salt and pepper, oil, etc. so we had to buy all those as well and of course had plenty leftover so felt wasteful throwing it all away again. Again, these are not dealbreakers, just be prepared.

We would love to stay at this property again. It's a beautiful home and great for large groups.

Great house and location. Needs a little updating, but we still recommend the property.

Not to nitpick, but it needs more garbage cans and it needs a dish drying rack in the kitchen.

Great vacation house. Beautiful large deck with plentiful chairs.

One problem - Upon entry and for about 3 days there was a strong smell of Moth balls. This created a big problem on the first three days. About 5 of our guests were getting sore throats. One became hoarse for a day and a half. Everything had to be laundered because our clothes had a heavy odor of moth balls. Clothes still smelled when we returned home. I reported this to the office on the day of arrival.

House was perfect for our group of 15 over the weekend and 9 for the rest of the week. The location is so easy to reach. We loved the fact that our patch of beach was our's alone! Crowds further away on both sides. We cycled to Chaplin Park for tennis. The pool, hot tub and other games provided were great for our active teenagers and also for grandparents. It was amazingly good and necessary to have two dishwashers and fridges. We liked the quality of the furnishings and appliances. Loved the App and all the helpful info and reminders. The children want to come back in six years time when Grandma will also be 80!!

This home at 18 Sand Dollar has absolutely everything a large family would need. The view is truly breathtaking and the deck with the hot tub and pool is plenty large. We spent Thanksgiving week there and the kitchen is to die for!!!!! The only negative I have is that it is so loud due to the fact that there are tons of wonderful windows and plenty of tile floor space. Of course, that could be the result of all the grandchildren!!! There's a very long private boardwalk to the beach which spans a large natural area before you reach the magnificent Atlantic Ocean. We are hoping to rent it again for next Thanksgiving so I had better get my deposit in before anybody else does!

A beautiful home close to the beach. We had a wonderful week enjoying the pool, beach, biking, and hot tub. Kitchen was well stocked and two refrigerators was nice. Ice maker wasn't working, but it was the only problem we had all week and a bag of ice was provided. The house was very clean when we arrived. The area around the pool got really hot so you had to be careful with little ones.. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Good layout of house with masters up and down. Separate TV/play space for kids is ideal. Double bunk room was great except no door to that room (and no foosballs for table so couldn't play it.) Good location on quiet beach area. Well maintained boardwalk to beach with nice seating spot along path. Well furnished both inside and out. Lots of cookware and supplies for large group. Great to not have keys and just use keypads for entry. Would consider this house again. Only cons were noise - Whole house is tile or wood with leather furniture and no draperies in great rooms, so little to dampen noise. Incredibly noisy when house is full. Suggest putting some fabrics in, especially in main great room.

This holiday was a grand slam!!! We had never before been to Hilton Head and were not sure of locations, etc. We were travelling with another family (total of 7 kids) and wanted to be on the beach. When we found 18 Sand Dollar, it was so nice and large, we knew the 2 families would be comfortable, so we booked it. This house EXCEEDED our expectations. The house is so spacious, it allowed for 11 people with no stress. The location was perfect...it was like a half way point from the outlets and Target and Sea Pines (Salty Dog Pub was a blast for ice cream and snacks)....we would book this place again. And most importantly was the customer service...it blew us away. On the first night we noticed the barbecue had rusted to a point of not working. One email and a new one was delivered the next day...I have never before been so impressed with a vacation rental. They were also extremely helpful for restaurants and bikes, etc. This was a truly added bonus to the great house.

He said "it had something for everyone" bewtween the ping pong table, pool table, fooz ball table, pool and beach. The house was clean. We loved that it only had two levels instead of 3 like so many homes on HHI. We also found it to be convenient to restaurants and easy to get to on the island.

We loved cooking in the gourmet kitchen and there was table space for all. Shopping needs were close at hand. Couldn't have asked for
anything nicer.

The house was beautiful, the pool and hot tub well maintained, the kitchen was well stocked, and loved the two refrigerators and dishwashers. The house made the stay for us. We normally vacation at the gulf where the water is clear and blue, but the house more than made up for the difference in the beaches.

We loved this house we come to HHI every year. Loved the walkway to the beach the house was very clean. We actaully wish we had not eaten out so much. If we had it to do over we would get carry out and eat on the deck or cook at home. I loved playing pool upstairs and looking at the ocean. The kids would check on the turtle nest that was directly behind the house in the dune hoping to get a glance of the baby turtles when they hatched.

We had a wonderful week. The house is large and our group of 15 never felt crowded. The pool and hot tub are perfectly placed on the deck. All the amenities you could want from large showers to flat screen TVs and a well equipped kitchen.
